What made this movie so good was that it stayed true to its comic roots, you could really see the world of marvel. Having a world that is relatable but supernatural is important, the character of Tony is someone you can definitely get behind and his life is out of the ordinary. It was very hard to find anything they slipped up, but the only things I could find were continuity errors, which can effect both story and origin.
What a story to start off the MCU! Big, bold and fun, this is what we needed back in 2008. It got us excited for the superhero genre and it put those type of films back on the map. The narrative was good and didn’t leave any awkward pauses and it allowed us to get to know the characters.
The one problem I had with the whole film was that it expected the big villain reveal to be a surprise, however it was obvious to me that Obadiah Stane would turn out to be ironmonger. Apart from that it was a great movie.
Not forgetting that this was 2008, the film has great realistic CGI and introduced us to a lot of new effects that helped the film come to life. The big star of the show was the iron man mark III suit, it just look awesome.
I loved the different shots they used for the flying scenes, they gave off an impression that once in the suit, Tony could do anything. Overall the shots were perfectly placed, they even thrown in the classic walk away from explosion scene.
Robert Downey Jr. is perfect for the role, this is the film that makes him rise to the top once again. The egotistical billionaire is a strong part of the character and Downey has no problem showing that whilst being caring for the ones he loves the most.
Another actor that was good was Jeff Bridges, the character was fearsome and calculated and was a good villain to start the MCU. I didn’t see any Oscar winning people but it was definitely close.
